Enterprise Network Operations Center

When systems glitch in the dark of the night, the Enterprise Network Operations Center is on the case. ENOC provides 24/7 management of the ITA Data Center, located on Level P4 in City Hall East. ENOC’s round-the-clock staff monitors mainframe and distributed systems processing and network availability in support of ITA and other departments.

They also provide off-hours help desk support and monitor all aspects of the Data Center facility, including power, UPS, generator, air conditioning, fire alarms, and water leak detection.

In addition to watching for alerts and monitoring systems, ENOC’s hard-working staff oversees operations, production control, scheduling, tape library, and logical security administration.

ENOC staff monitors more than 22,603 distributed (Control-M) and 1300 mainframe (CA-7) production jobs, the mainframe master console, performs on-call support, initiates system outage notification, and performs emergency activation calls. Around the clock, the staff implements production jobs, reviews JCL, configures CA-7 job scheduling, and administers the online documentation system for programmer and staff reference.

ENOC also manages the tape library, prepares approximately 7,000 backup tapes annually for offsite storage, and coordinates with ITA’s offsite tape vendor for disaster recovery testing. On the security administration side, ENOC staff creates and validates mainframe user ID accounts for all City departments, resets passwords, establishes access to various mainframe and web-based applications, and creates special IDs for FTP processing.

With ENOC on the job, ITA knows that there is always someone watching and making sure our systems are running and contacting ITA support staff for unexpected issues.  A huge thanks to ENOC, including:
