Tracy Westen, Chairperson
Tracy Westen is the Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Center for Governmental Studies, a nonprofit organization that researches and develops public policy and communications reforms to improve the processes of democratic governance. He teaches communications law and policy at the USC Annenberg School for Communication. Among his many accomplishments, he was the founder and first Vice Chairman of the California Channel, which provides gavel-to-gavel coverage of the state legislature, and founder and President of the Democracy Network (www.dnet.org), an Internet system of candidate debate and voter information designed to improve citizen participation in elections and government. Westen was also a member of the Los Angeles Board of Telecommunications Commissioners during the 1987 cable television franchising process. He is a founding member of the MAPB and has served the City since its inception in 1992.
